Crypto Casino Glossary

Plain-English definitions of every term you'll encounter in crypto gambling — from "aggregator" to "Zcash". Linkable, citable, jargon-free.

A

📌 Aggregator
A casino-software platform (Softswiss, GameArt, Pragmatic Play) that licenses multiple game studios and provides them to operators via a single API. Most crypto casinos use 1-3 aggregators rather than direct studio integrations.
📌 AML (Anti-Money Laundering)
Regulatory framework requiring casinos to detect and report suspicious transactions. Triggers KYC requests at deposit/withdrawal thresholds, typically $2,000-$10,000 daily.

B

📌 Bankroll
The total money you have allocated for gambling. Healthy practice: bankroll never affects bills, rent, or savings. See Kelly Criterion calculator for sizing bets vs bankroll.
📌 BEP-20
Token standard on BNB Smart Chain. USDT-BEP20 means USDT on BNB Smart Chain — cheaper than ERC-20 but with fewer casino destinations.
📌 BTC (Bitcoin)
First and most widely accepted cryptocurrency. ~10 min mainnet confirmation, sub-second via Lightning Network. See Bitcoin casinos guide.

C

📌 Cashback
Bonus that returns a percentage of net losses over a period (daily/weekly/monthly). Best cashback is paid in real cash with no wagering. Cashback bonuses.
📌 CGCB (Curaçao Gaming Control Board)
Replacement regulatory framework operational since 2023 for Curaçao licenses. Direct licensee model replaces old master/sub-license system. Verify at curacao-egaming.com.
📌 Client seed
In provably fair games, a random string the PLAYER provides (often editable in account settings). Combined with server seed + nonce to compute outcomes — letting you cryptographically verify the result.
📌 Crash (game)
Multiplier-curve game where a multiplier rises from 1× upward, then crashes at a random point. You cash out before the crash to win bet × cashout. Provably fair via 0.99/(1-r) distribution. Try our Crash strategy tester.
📌 Core Web Vitals (CWV)
Google's page-experience metrics: LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), INP (Interaction to Next Paint), CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift). Direct SEO ranking factor since 2021.

D

📌 DAO casino
Decentralised Autonomous Organisation that runs gambling via smart contracts. No central operator custody. Lower liquidity than centralised crypto casinos but stronger fairness guarantees.
📌 DOGE (Dogecoin)
Originally a memecoin, widely accepted at crypto casinos. ~1 min block time, sub-cent fees. Lower precision than BTC (8 decimals vs satoshi).

E

📌 ERC-20
Token standard on Ethereum. USDT/USDC on ERC-20 has full DeFi composability but mainnet fees can be $1-$20+ during congestion.
📌 ETH (Ethereum)
Second-largest cryptocurrency. Mainnet ~6 min confirmation but L2s (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base) settle in seconds with sub-cent fees. Ethereum casinos.
📌 Evolution Gaming
Largest live-dealer studio. Most crypto casinos with live dealer tables run Evolution games (Lightning Roulette, Crazy Time, etc.). Evolution review.

F

📌 Faucet
Small no-deposit reward (typically $0.10-$1) given to inactive accounts to encourage return play. Common at BC.Game and ChipMixer-style casinos.
📌 Free spins
Wagering-eligible spins on specific slots, granted as a bonus. Usually tied to Pragmatic Play / Hacksaw / NetEnt titles. Free spins offers.
📌 FUD
Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt — coordinated negative messaging often deployed by competitors or aggrieved players. Read complaint sites with FUD-detection: askgamblers.com vetting trumps anonymous tweets.
📌 FUD bot
Automated account spreading negative narratives against a casino. Indicator: high volume, same talking points, no transaction proof.

H

📌 House edge
Mathematical advantage the casino has on a given game, expressed as percentage. Provably fair Dice has 1% house edge. American roulette has 5.26%. Slots vary 2-15%.

I

📌 INN (Indexation Now)
Bing-pioneered protocol for instantly notifying search engines of new/updated URLs. Replaces the slower "wait for crawler" model. We use it via our automated submission.

K

📌 KYC (Know Your Customer)
Identity verification — government ID + proof of address + sometimes selfie. Crypto casinos often waive for crypto-only play under $1k-$2k daily. No-KYC explained.

L

📌 Lightning Network
Bitcoin layer-2 for near-instant, sub-cent transfers. Payment channels open/close on BTC mainnet, transactions in between are off-chain. Supporting operators: Cloudbet, BC.Game, Bitcasino, Vave.
📌 Limbo
Provably fair game where you choose a target multiplier and odds. Win if the random outcome exceeds target. Same math as Crash but pre-commit, not live cashout.
📌 Live dealer
Casino games (roulette, blackjack, baccarat, game shows) streamed from real studios with human dealers. Operated by Evolution, Pragmatic Live, Playtech. Higher production cost = often weighted less for WR.
📌 LTC (Litecoin)
Often called "casino currency" — 2.5-min block time, sub-cent fees. Stake's #1 withdrawal coin. Litecoin casinos.

M

📌 Martingale
Bet-doubling strategy: double bet after every loss, return to base after win. Mathematically broken — table limits + finite bankroll guarantee eventual ruin. Discussed in bankroll management guide.
📌 MATIC (Polygon)
Ethereum L2 with fast settlement + low fees. Often used for USDT-Polygon transfers. POL is the current native token name (renamed from MATIC in 2024).
📌 MGA (Malta Gaming Authority)
Premium EU gambling regulator. Rare in crypto casinos due to cost + strict KYC requirements but recognised globally as gold-standard player protection.
📌 Mines
Provably fair grid game — 5×5 board with N bombs, you reveal tiles for increasing multiplier. Mines calculator.

N

📌 NFT casino
Casino with NFT-themed games, NFT membership tiers (Shuffle), or NFT-backed jackpots. Niche. Few have meaningful liquidity outside marketing copy.
📌 No-deposit bonus
Real-money bonus credited just for signing up — no deposit required. Smallest type ($5-$50). High wagering. No-deposit bonuses.
📌 Nonce
Round counter in provably fair scheme. Increments with each bet. Combined with server seed + client seed to determine outcomes.

O

📌 On-chain transaction
Crypto transfer broadcast to the blockchain (vs off-chain payment channels). Slower + more expensive than off-chain (Lightning, L2), but maximally verifiable.

P

📌 Plinko
Provably fair drop-game — ball falls through pegged board into multiplier slots. Variable house edge based on chosen risk (low/medium/high) and rows count.
📌 POL (Polygon, ex-MATIC)
Native token of Polygon PoS chain. Renamed from MATIC in 2024 as part of Polygon 2.0 architecture migration.
📌 Pragmatic Play
Top crypto-casino slot studio. Drops & Wins monthly tournaments (€2M+ monthly pool) are at every Pragmatic-integrated operator. Pragmatic Play review.
📌 Progressive jackpot
Slot where a portion of every bet feeds a shared prize pool until won. Mega Moolah, Hot Drop Jackpots. Long odds but life-changing payouts.
📌 Provably fair
Cryptographic scheme letting players verify game outcomes were not manipulated. Uses SHA-256 commit-reveal of server seed + client seed + nonce. Provably fair step-by-step.
📌 PWA (Progressive Web App)
Installable web app — works offline, sends notifications, adds to home screen. Most crypto casinos use PWA over native apps because Google Play removes gambling apps.

R

📌 Rakeback
Bonus that returns a percentage of HOUSE EDGE collected from your bets, regardless of win/loss. Best when paid with no wagering (Duel.com 50%/80% NR). Rakeback bonuses.
📌 Reverse withdrawal
Cancelling a pending withdrawal to play the funds. Predatory T&C feature at some casinos — automatic cancellation if you log in during processing. Avoid casinos that do this.
📌 Responsible Gambling (RG)
Industry term for problem-gambling prevention tools: deposit limits, self-exclusion, session timers. RG resources hub.
📌 RNG (Random Number Generator)
Algorithm producing pseudo-random results in licensed casino games. Certified by labs (iTechLabs, GLI, BMM). Alternative to provably fair — you trust the lab.
📌 Rollover
Synonym for wagering requirement. "30× rollover" = bet 30× the bonus before withdrawal.
📌 RTP (Return to Player)
Mathematical payout percentage — slot at 96% RTP returns $96 for every $100 wagered over the long run. NOT a guarantee per session — high variance can produce big swings either way.

S

📌 Self-exclusion
Voluntary block from gambling — single casino (account settings) or cross-operator (GAMSTOP UK). Minimum period 6 months. Self-exclusion programs.
📌 Server seed
In provably fair games, the CASINO's random string. Published as a hash BEFORE play, revealed AFTER. Combined with client seed + nonce to compute outcomes.
📌 Shitcoin (slang)
Pejorative for low-quality / no-utility cryptocurrencies. In casino context: avoid depositing in obscure coins — limited withdrawal liquidity + sudden delisting risk.
📌 Slot
Reel-based game with paylines + bonus features. The largest crypto-casino game category. RTP 92-98%, variance low to high.
📌 SOL (Solana)
Layer-1 blockchain with sub-second confirmations + ~$0.03 fees. Fastest-growing crypto-casino payment rail 2024-26. Solana casinos.

📌 TRC-20
Token standard on TRON. USDT-TRC20 has industry's lowest fees (~$0.10) and fastest settlement (~3 sec). Dominant USDT rail at crypto casinos.

Public consumer review site. Useful as one signal among many — easily manipulated by both operators (fake positive) and competitors (fake negative). Cross-reference with AskGamblers + Casino.Guru.

U

📌 USDC (USD Coin)
USD stablecoin issued by Circle. Regulatory clarity favoured for US-compliant operators. Reserve audited monthly.
📌 USDT (Tether)
Largest USD stablecoin, ~98% crypto-casino acceptance. TRC-20 dominant. USDT casinos.

📌 VP (Volatility Profile)
Slot volatility — low / medium / high. Low = frequent small wins; high = rare big wins. High volatility means deeper bankroll needed to weather variance.

W

📌 Wagering requirement (WR)
Multiplier on the bonus that defines total bet volume needed before withdrawal. "35× WR on $100 bonus" = $3,500 wagering. See wagering deep dive.
